Improving Public Health By Developing a Disease Surveillance System
ABOUT
Titan Technologies has serviced the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) for over 15 years, primarily delivering services and solutions to improve population health and prevent disease. Since 2005, Titan Technologies has been the sole architect developing, integrating and supporting the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS).
CHALLENGE
The OSDH required seamless delivery of services and solutions from an integrated information system that was compatible with Public Health Information Network (PHIN) standards. This system was necessary to support local, state, and territorial public health departments in managing communicable disease data and meet Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reporting requirements.
SOLUTION
Titan Technologies answered the call by developing, integrating and supporting the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) and providing secure applications to support the public health investigation workflow and to process, analyze, and share disease-related health information. In addition, Titan Technologies provides reporting jurisdictions with a NEDSS-compatible information system to transfer epidemiologic, laboratory, and clinical data efficiently and securely over the Internet.
RESULTS
Built and maintained by Titan Technologies, the system provides the OSDH with total confidence in the integrated, multiple sourced data focused on an array of public health conditions. The system aids local, state, and territorial public health officials with identifying and tracking disease cases over time. This capability allows public health institutions to provide appropriate interventions to help limit the severity and spread of disease. Titan Technologies applies the principles of software security with the methodology of public health to provide effective and innovative support to OSDH.
