ABOUT
Since 1999 Titan Technologies has delivered enterprise IT services and Telecommunications support to the Okaloosa County School District (OCSD). Services include network management, security, service desk, technology planning, installation, and scheduled hardware upgrades. The supported environment consists of more than 40 locations, over 3,400 teachers and administrators, and 30,000 students across Okaloosa County, using approximately 17,000 laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, and servers. All OCSD IT products are supported including phones, video capability, security cameras, laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices and printers.
CHALLENGE
As part of Titan Technologies’ continuous improvement objective, we presented to the county a set of new security threats whose probability of occurrence was becoming a real possibility given the new attack surfaces presented by new mobile enabled and externally accessible services. With requirements for applications to be accessible outside the OCSD network, at any time, using any device, security had to adopt.
SOLUTION
Titan Technologies has been instrumental in implementing substantial improvements to the security posture of the OCSD enterprise. Our adaptive security approach has enabled OCSD to evolve to a proactive information security posture. Through this approach, we have protected OCSD’s data and IT infrastructure by recommending, implementing, and maintaining security solutions such as Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Disaster Recovery planning, and security awareness training sessions. Some examples of the items included in our solution are:
- Enhancement of the perimeter security by using NGFW to conduct deep packet inspections, content filtering, and application intelligence for threat scanning.
- Integration of a continuous Vulnerability Management program.
- Expansion of the Intrusion Detection/Prevention Sensors which are strategically located throughout the enterprise.
RESULTS
These solutions have improved the security posture of the OCSD enterprise making it adaptable to new threats based on abnormal behavior instead of relying on detected signatures. OCSD also benefits from an improved security monitoring and early breach detection in accordance with best practices and accelerates the threat detection and response capabilities. The ultimate result is that Titan Technologies provides a learning environment that is safe and always available.
